MONDAY EVENING: KENDO--Just got off Ultrastar. Mon and Tues a few movies are listed. Plug in Wed and see how many movies come up. Plug in Thurs and see how many movies come up.

Let me know.

I didn't try them but they have a set of demo chairs synched to the Hobbit trailer, you hit a button and it takes you through the motions. 9 year old daughter loved it, wife thought it was annoying.

Moving Seats : We were like other people who want to stay still, relax and just see movement on the screen. We tried the same model in the Lobby. We thought it was neat, for a short time. Could I stand it for 2 hours ? -- I do not know.

But, I might find out soon. I promised some teen aged young men a trip to the movie of their choice (even the seats) , as a gift, for helping me keep my yard. No telling what I got myself into.....the last movies they saw were some animation "Ralph" thing and some other movie I never heard of.

MOVIE SCHEDULES: looks like they update the coming schedules on Monday Night.

Did I understand that the Ak Chin Hotel was $29/night ?

We are closing on Friday :) - Ak Chin was 40% off by booking on their site so it ranged from 29 on Thurs, Sun and Monday, $49 Fri and $65 Sat. With a free seafood buffet and $10 slot play for signing up a Players Account it was a great deal.

We have been to the new theatre at the casino twice in the last week and loved it. I think it is great to not have to go as far as Chandler or Casa Grande for a simple movie. Beautiful theatres and seating. Drinks and popcorn were pretty pricey though! Too bad the City of Maricopa didn't get in on the action and build directly in town so we would get some of the revenue. The band scored on this one all right! Smart cookies!

TOTAL MOVIE EXPERIENCE WITH THE HOBBIT

Postby The Ol' Librarian » Fri Dec 28, 2012 9:56 am

Took the young men who do my yard work to the movie of their choice, as a gift. We did THE HOBBIT, 3D and the DBOX (moving seats). Seats are ASSIGNED by number. We had the best seats in the house and some guys actually tried to "bully" my guests into taking some other seats ! Asking them to prove by showing their tickets, that they had tickets for those seats. Then, I arrived on the scene. Their severe rudeness pissed me off, but the trailers were starting, so I planned on saying some thing to the punks after the movie. But, they were the first ones out of the theater. I do hope they were not from this area and so stupid.

We all totally enjoyed the whole package--seats, too. Seats can be turned OFF, too. But, I had mine turned up all the way !

From one who has NEVER even seen any movie of this series or read the books--I really enjoyed it and plan on watching the other movies.

The Town of Maricopa along with Town Businesses really missed out on this! We "could of had" a movie IN TOWN but it just didn't work out. I wonder how much this will affect Town Businesses?

So far, we've been to the movies three times. Parked the car, had dinner THERE 3 times and enjoyed the movies. Also the game area is just great! In the older inmaricopachat.com--many entries stated it would have little to no affect on the Town's businesses---little foresight = a loss for the Town.

We did the Star Class once--kind of dark to see & eat what we ordered but it was ok and the regular seating twice--just a great value since we didn't have to drive for 30+ minutes. The cost and the value/quality of dinner is above what is mostly offered in Town. The savings in gas and wear/tear on our cars will more than offset any higher prices.

EVERY ONE IS IMPRESSED !

Postby The Ol' Librarian » Sun Dec 30, 2012 1:11 pm

At this writing, we also have tried all the eateries & bars and been to 4 movies. Our guests have been really impressed, too. We spent Christmas Day there along with 100s of other people. It did not seem crowded though and every one could move around easily. It was a joy to see all the young people having so much fun, as I strolled all the way to the end of the bowling alley (lanes which were ALL in use !).

I missed Gov. Brewer on Friday, when she visited the place. She said she would be back. Brewer visited Maricopa many times before becoming governor.

We took our Grandkids to the arcade and laser tag yesterday and had a blast. We were impressed with how helpful and patient the staff was with the kids!

I went there with my father, who was visiting from out of town. We were really impressed with the movie theater, how modern the whole complex was, and the friendly staff. The restaurant wasn't really what we were looking for food-wise. I do wish they had some more restaurants close by (kind of like the set up they have at the AMC in Ahwatukee). Maybe they'll add those in the future. I'll be coming back to the movie theater for sure. What a great addition to our community!
